Delivery Terms and Conditions

Order by 1:30PM Adelaide time MONDAY-FRIDAY and SATURDAY before 12 noon for Same Day Delivery to the Adelaide metro area!

Sending within South Australia

The Hamper Specialist is committed to providing the best possible prices. If you select to have your item delivered, there will always be an extra delivery fee on top of the item price. The Hamper Specialist uses personal couriers to deliver. Please make sure you supply contact details for yourself and the recipient because sometimes locked gates and dogs can hamper our efforts.
If the location you are sending to is considered to be outside of the Adelaide metro area, The Hamper Specialist has the right to take 2 - 10 business days (depending on distance) to deliver your item. In this case, the information will be supplied on your order confirmation email. Please provide a residential or business address for deliveries, PO Box numbers will not be accepted for personal deliveries, and cannot be left. PO Boxes can only be delivered if via Australia Post, which we can arrange for you, however, it must not contain perishables.

Sending Interstate

If you would like to send Interstate, please speak with our staff on (08) 8373 6812 to discuss and to obtain a quote for the shipping fee.
The Hamper Specialist is committed to delivering happiness to everyone. Interstate sending will be sent through AUSTRALIA POST and will incur an extra fee on top of the item price. Hampers or other gifts being sent interstate need to be chosen from the flat packed box range on the website.
Nappy cakes may be sent Interstate with the extra fee depending on the height and weight of the gift.
Fruit Baskets, Flowers, and Stick or Helium Balloons CAN'T BE DELIVERED TO COUNTRY LOCATIONS...


Delivery Costs

Delivery charges start at $10 for Unley, and will then increase in price depending on the distance from the shop at Unley to the suburb you choose in Adelaide.

We realise the importance of getting your gift to the recipient on the date you select, so we use extremely reliable couriers.

Unfortunately, NO specific delivery time can be guaranteed as the couriers work on a route system and other factors outside of The Hamper Specialist's Control such as Road Works. Christmas Rush etc can sometimes delay us. If delivering to a business, please note that on your order so we can plan to arrive at the business prior to closing time.

We will attempt to deliver to businesses prior to 5:30pm, home addresses prior to 7pm and hospitals prior to 8pm. (excludes other occasions i.e. Christmas, Mother's Day, Road Works, etc.)

Delivery Times

Orders place by 1:30pm can be delivered same day to Adelaide metropolitan areas. (excludes occasions i.e Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day - although we will try our absolute best!)
Orders received after 1:30 pm Adelaide time will be delivered the next business day.
From the time of collection from our store (not the time you placed the order) by the air conditioned couriers, we generally allow 4-6 hrs for delivery outside of events (excludes occasions i.e Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day - but again, we will try our absolute best!)

Country Deliveries are ''freight'' based and can take between 2-10 business days depending on location sending to. Not all deliveries are door-to-door and will be delivered to the local post office or depot that services the area.'Recipient will be advised of the depot drop location (please provide receiver's mobile number).
Orders need to be placed by 10:30 am on a business day (Mon-Fri) for the best chance of being delivered in the next 2-10 business days. Once we post, we cannot guarantee when it will arrive.

Orders placed before noon will most likely be delivered between 2pm & 7pm Saturday afternoon to Adelaide metropolitan areas only. Orders received after noon will be processed and delivered the next business day.

Sundays & Public Holidays

We do not process orders, respond to emails or deliver on Sunday or Public Holidays. (With only one exception ''Mother's Day'' :-)
We are closed on all public holidays.
We will process orders, make deliveries and respond to email questions on the next available business day.
We would like to have some time off to keep the new ideas coming...Thanks for your understanding. :-)

Hospital Deliveries

Most hospitals will not permit us to deliver directly to the patient and we are required to leave the item at the nurses' station/ reception. We have no control when the item will be handed to the patient once left at the nurses' station/ reception. We telephone the nominated hospital upon receiving your order to ensure the patient hasn't been discharged or moved. To assist us, please provide us with the patient name they are admitted under and as much detail as possible. Please do not use the baby's name for a gift delivery (unless the baby is admitted to the hospital). Please note we can only deliver to patients who have been allocated to a specific ward. We cannot deliver to recovery/surgery wards.

We do not send gifts to interstate hospitals via the post. We cannot guarantee it will arrive to the recipient. In that case, it is best to provide us a home address.

If the patient has been discharged from hospital or there is a failed delivery. The gift will return to our shop at 150 Unley Road, Unley. The buyer will be contacted to arrange re-delivery of the gift. This means an additional delivery fee will apply, and the delivery date may change from the original date selected.

PO Boxes

Gifts Baskets or Hampers can NOT be delivered to PO Boxes. You must provide a physical business or home address, unless you are ordering a flatpack gift as outlined on our website. Balloons cannot be sent.

Christmas Deliveries/ Dates/ Orders

Plan ahead for holiday operating hours – and ship early when possible. 

Although we make every effort to deliver with the same transit times as the rest of the year, we can't guarantee Country or Interstate shipments sent during the two weeks before Christmas due to unusually high volumes.

A good rule of thumb is to allow ten business days for ground shipments during those last two weeks, particularly for long distances; your shipment may arrive sooner of course! 

For any corporate orders in excess of 10 items, please allow us at least 2 business days' notice to prepare.

High Summer Temperatures

PLEASE be aware when sending Gift Baskets containing ANY CHOCOLATE, OR FRUIT on HIGH temperature days (i.e. over 30 degrees) will MELT if left for any length of time. We request you find out when the recipient will be home and specify in "Special Instructions" at checkout ''Please deliver after 3 PM'' or '' Please deliver before 12 noon". Sometimes recipients will not take our calls or respond to us if we make contact.

Lindt is a very delicate chocolate and melts easily. 

Deliveries Containing Alcohol

Gifts containing alcohol may be purchased online or in our store at 150 Unley Rd, Unley by persons over the age of 18. If delivered, these gifts must also be received by someone who is over the age of 18.

Deliveries containing alcohol cannot be left unattended at a premises. Someone over the age of 18 must be there to receive the gift. As an alternative, we recommend sending to a business address.

Special Circumstances Liquor Licence 51210179. It is against the law to sell or supply alcohol to, or to obtain alcohol on behalf of, a person under the age of 18 years.

Out of Stock

If an item within the Gift Basket is out of stock i.e. ''Apricot Slice'' or ''Maggie Beer Paste'' - We will always try and replace with a similar, equal or greater value product. 

If Magazine(s) requested are not available (due to monthly publishing dates) we will swap within same genre. i.e Vogue for Marie Claire, Top Gear for Motor, Fishing World for Fishing SA, Better Homes or Delicious etc.

Pick Ups

Gifts Baskets and Hampers are available for pick up from our Unley shopfront.  Baskets containing alcohol can only be picked up by persons over the age of 18. To order a pick up, please call (08) 8373 6812, or select 'pick up' on our website when checking out. The Hamper Specialist requires at least 2 hours' notice for gifts being picked up from our shop.

Refunds & Returns

Refunds - will take 3 to 5 business days to return into your account, depending on your financial institution's processing times.

Returns - for a gift basket purchased online or in store, please retain the sales docket or invoice for exchange of a faulty product within 7 days of purchase. The item in question must be returned to the store (150 Unley Road, Unley) by the buyer for an exchange of the same item (subject to stock availability) - if unable, we will provide a refund of the product. Excludes sales items and delivery charges.


All AMEX Cards will be charged at 2%

General Delivery Information

  • Gifts Baskets & Hampers will be delivered to the address as provided by you. 
  • Where possible we recommend delivery to a business address if you know the recipient works full-time and is unlikely to be home to receive it.
  • Please double check your email confirmation e.g. that you have typed a ''message'', the spelling (especially if using mobile), and recipient's name and details are correct.
  • If we are given an incorrect address, or can't gain access to the property, and we need to re-deliver the gift to a different address, or reattempt the delivery, an additional delivery charge will apply.
  • If you have selected YES to leaving the gift and the recipient is not home, the gift will be left in the location that the courier believes to be the most secure at that address. We cannot be held responsible for stolen goods.
  • If the courier does not believe there is a secure enough location to leave the gift, or they cannot access the property (Locked Gates & Dogs) the gift will be returned to our shop. We will then contact you to discuss payment of a re-delivery fee or collection by the recipient. In that case, we cannot guarantee the re-delivery of the gift will be on the original date selected
  • If you have selected NO for leaving the gift, we will attempt to deliver to the address provided, however if not home, the gift will be returned to our shop.
    We will then contact you to discuss payment of a redelivery fee or collection by the recipient.
  • For country deliveries some items may be substituted to avoid products being heat damaged, due to the amount of time they will be in transit.
  • All delivery prices are in Australian Dollars and include GST.
  • International Customers please place orders at least 2 business days' inadvance to allow for time zone differences.
